Chnoubis Gnostic Art Occult Drawing
Pencil on watercolor paper
10 x 10 Inches
The symbolism of Chnoubis has a long, rich history dating back at least as far as ancient Egypt. Images of Chnoubis are often used on Gnostic amulets to protect against illness and poisons. It is an aspect of the Gnostic Demiurge, Yaldabaoth, and is associated with Abraxas. Considered a positive demon, Chnoubis is often called upon to protect against or destroy maleficent demons. The Thelemic Gnostic Mass refers to Chnoubis, “O Lion and O Serpent that destroy the destroyer, be mighty among us!”
